Le Pigalle Stays True to Historic Neighborhood Roots

Le Pigalle is unlike your average hotel. Sharing the Pigalle district in Paris with infamous cabarets, sex shops, and young and in-love locals, Le Pigalle is a decadent destination for travellers who want to get away from ingeniune experiences designed for tourists. This is the real Paris, or at least part of it.

Situated on Rue Frochot, the hotel stands tall with potted plants and vines pouring over the window sills. True to the mood of the neighborhood, the sign carrying the hotel’s name--as well as the words “bar,” “hotel,” and “restaurant”--are lit in white neon. This place is different, indeed, but in all the right ways. The concepts of artistic creation, lust, and romance that so many envision when they imagine Paris are present here. Somehow, valuable aspects of the past have stayed in tact at this hotel while they’ve withered away elsewhere in the city.

There’s something refreshing about different, and Le Pigalle thrives on this simple fact. As one makes their way through Europe going from destination to destination, they learn to know what to expect. Le Pigalle, however, shatters these expectations, whether it be through its design, multiculture, location, or its connection to the community. This hotel prides itself on being a permeable, fluid space, rather than a microcosmic bubble separated from the outside world. The hotel does this by turning to local individuals and businesses to create a unique guest experience: photographs and illustrations from local artists stud the walls, the music in the bar and lobby has been curated by local DJs, fresh baked goods are sourced from a nearby bakery, and special access to shopkeepers and neighborhood characters allow guests to hear wild stories of this red-light district’s many exploits.

The unique mood of this hotel extends into each of its 40 rooms, which have been outfitted by Valpas, making the hotel safe of bed bugs now and in the future. This is something that cannot be said for most, unprepared hotels around the world, especially in Paris. All this is thanks to Valpas' groundbreaking preventative technology, which is fast becoming the industry standard.

Moreover, as a member of Design Hotels, the interior design features a truly artistic blend of vintage and contemporary accents tied together by the neighborhood’s common “Nouvelle Athènes” style. Everything you could want or need is present here: a collection of objects, souvenirs, music, books, and secondhand furniture, making for a truly cool place to return to after a day (or night) on the town.

Consider Le Pigalle for an experience unlike any other you’ve enjoyed thus far. Here, you’ll feel the moody, smokey, grittiness of a Paris long gone without losing the modern amenities and comfort you’re looking for in a place to lay your head. For history connoisseurs and laymen alike, Le Pigalle is sure to leave you with a story to tell your friends and family when you return home.
